In the unpredictable world of college football recruiting, the USC Trojans are facing seismic shifts at the quarterback position. Julian Lewis, once seen as the cornerstone of the Trojans' 2025 recruiting class, has withdrawn his commitment, adding fuel to the already heated competition among top-tier programs. Meanwhile, a new star is taking his place as USC secures a major victory with the addition of five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet.

Lewis's decision to decommit comes after a series of visits and continued interest from rival programs, notably Colorado and Indiana. Originally pledging allegiance to USC in August 2023 while still part of the 2026 class, the 6-foot standout has now elevated to one of the most sought-after recruits in the 2025 cycle. Ranked No. 36 overall and the seventh-best quarterback by the On3 Industry Ranking, Lewis's departure leaves USC searching for a new centerpiece. Colorado, where Lewis has visited four times this year, and Indiana are now positioning themselves to land the coveted Georgian signal-caller.

On the other side of this recruitment carousel, USC found solace in the commitment of Husan Longstreet. The California native, initially bound for Texas A&M, announced his switch to USC, bolstering Lincoln Riley's future lineup. Longstreet, a five-star recruit ranked No. 23 nationally and the fourth-best quarterback in his class, had made waves in high school with standout performances.

Longstreet will be staying close to home

Transferring to Centennial, he delivered over 3,000 ing yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior, complemented by 645 rushing yards and seven scores on the ground. Despite an early-season injury in 2024, Longstreet has shown resilience, accumulating 1,425 yards and 18 ing touchdowns in just eight games.

This shake-up signals a pivotal moment for USC. With Longstreet's commitment, the Trojans gain a versatile and high-performing leader who fits well into their offensive ambitions. However, with Lewis now on the open market and still pursued by determined programs like Colorado, USC's competition is far from over as the recruiting trail continues to heat up.
