Shedeur Sanders has no hangs up after missing out on the Heisman Memorial Trophy after the Colorado Buffaloes' quarterback was snubbed as a finalist, before his teammate, Travis Hunter, claimed the prize.
Hunter took home over 2,200 points to win ahead of the Boise State Broncos' Ashton Jeanty after making 14 touchdowns from 92 receptions throughout the 2024 NCAA season, as well as 31 tackles, 11 deflections and a forced fumble from the cornerback role as a two-way player.
He was a heavy favorite to claim the award but it was close than expected with Jeanty in New York City on Saturday, December 14 but nonetheless, Hunter managed to get over the line and his quarterback chose to celebrate him.
"Proud of ya bro love ya @TravisHunterJr," Sanders wrote via X.com, formerly Twitter, after missing out on a nomination, despite ing for 35 touchdowns and 3926 yards in the Big 12 conference.
The 21-year-old Hunter went on to add the Biletnikoff Award for the best wide receiver, and the Bednarik Award for the best defensive player of the year, to his resume to cap off an impressive 2024 season with the Buffaloes.
Who do the Buffaloes play next?
Whilst the Heisman Trophy is a landmark moment in the career of a player, both will be focusing their attentions firmly on the 2025 NFL Draft in April in Wisconsin.
The 22-year-old Sanders is linked to the Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys, Hunter, meanwhile, has been linked to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Both are projected to be first round picks as they finally realize their dreams.
But before they head to life as professionals, they have one final college football game left to play together and that's when they take on the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday, December 28.
