Travis Hunter celebrates Heisman Trophy with a bizarre post that no one expected

Travis Hunter wrote a strange message on social media as the Colorado Buffaloes' star collected the 2024 Heisman Memorial Trophy on Saturday, December 14 after scoring 14 touchdowns.

The 21-year-old wide receiver and cornerback beat the Boise State Broncos' Ashton Jeanty to the prize by 214 votes in New York City to be honored as "outstanding excellence" within college football.

And it's no surprise that he chose to celebrate the moment on Instagram with some photos oh him in his white turtle neck and blue blazer/jacket holding the trophy, but he also added an intriguing caption of, "Nana boo-boo".

The phrase is derivative of a popular idiom across the United States, and especially in the south, used to taunt someone who is beaten or loses at a game so Hunter could be sending a message to the rivals who all finished behind him in the voting.

Regardless of the caption and the meaning, fans and celebrities were absolutely hyped to see the two-way player pick up the prize and rushed to the comments to gush over his most career-defining moment to date.

Cam Newton wrote, via Instagram, "Welcome to the brotherhood!! -1ove."

Whilst 2chainz commented, "Congrats Killa."

And Quavo said, "HIMOTHY."

When is the 2025 NFL Draft?

Alongside the Heisman, Hunter also won the AP Player of the Year and the Bednarik Award and it's no surprise after making 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns. Whilst on the defense, he made 31 tackles, 11 es defended, one forced fumble and four interceptions.

So it's no surprise he's currently projected as a first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, with the Jacksonville Jaguars tipped to make a move for the youngster although he may not be picked first overall due to differing needs of teams.

Either way, the 2025 NFL Draft will take place from April 24-26 and will be hosted at the Green Bay Packers' Lambeau Field in Wisconsin.
