North Carolina State head coach Dave Doeren apologized for the nasty fight that happened at the end and said that he was embarrassed as leader for the way some of his players handed the situation. "It's not how people of this program... want anything to do with something like that." Doeren said after the game.

East Carolina coach Blake Harrell wasn't a fan of what went down at the end of the match, either. "Obviously, didn't like the last little bit of the game. There's no place in sports for that." the coach said as he embraced the rivalry between the two schools as they are set to play again in the 2025 season opener.

Umpire Rod Tucker took a helmet to the face and received medical attention as blood was seen dripping from his face after the brawl broke out. Referee Jonathan Noli read the eight ejections of players from both teams.

A senior running back was key to East Carolina's victory

Senior running back Rahjai Harris ran for a 86-yard touchdown with 1:33 remaining to give the Pirates the win. Harris had 220 of East Carolina's 326 rushing yards. "Big shout out to the big boys up front. They opened that thing up for me (...) They just had that one percent mentality, one play at a time." Harris said about his last rushing play.

The running back had 17 carries for the Pirates and the decisive touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Katin Ho added 84 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The East Carolina Pirates ended the year on a high note, having won four of its last five regular season games and now they gonna have plenty of time to think about the next time they will face North Carolina State, when they travel to Raleigh on August 30th, 2025.
