Quinn Ewers went from being one of the most feared quarterbacks in the NCAA to being the favorite target of defenses. The Texas Longhorns star's lack of mobility has created him problems in the past, and a former teammate already threatened to exploit this Achilles heel in the Cotton Bowl.
The 2024-2025 NCAA season has been of ups and downs for Ewers. His injury in the middle of the season and his competition with his teammate, Arch Manning, were a constant headache for the young quarterback.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian's confidence has kept him in the position, but that may not be enough this Friday against the Ohio State Buckeyes. His old teammate, Tyleik Williams, just warned that he would exploit Ewers' known weakness to make life difficult for him in the Cotton Bowl.

The past comes back to bite Ewers
Quinn Ewers began his college career with a brief stint with the Buckeyes in 2021. However, the young signal-caller only spent four months in Columbus. Looking for more playing time, he hit the transfer portal to sign up with the Longhorns.
Williams still re those days. "Quinn's my guy. He's a great competitor, great quarterback," the defensive tackle explained in a press conference. However, their time together left great lessons for the Ohio State defensive lineman, who will not hesitate to take advantage of that knowledge.
"I think it'll be fun going against him, you know, trying to get him running around," Williams said. In this way, the Buckeyes defensive tackle showed not only his knowledge of Ewers but also that the team's defense thoroughly studied the videos of his opponent.
Ewers can't run
Although he has a great arm, Ewers is one of those quarterbacks who performs best in the pocket. In his four-year college career, the Longhorns' signal-caller has carried the ball 135 times for a negative 41 yards.
In the Peach Bowl alone, which they won 39-31 over Arizona State, Ewers ran the ball six times for a gain of just one yard. Unless Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian remedies this, Williams and the rest of Ohio State's defensive line will have a field day with Ewers.
