Deion Sanders has transformed the Colorado Buffaloes from a struggling program into one of college football's most talked-about teams, despite interest from the Dallas Cowboys, Coach Prime chose to remain at Folsom Field. However, keeping him might come at a steep price.
Under Sanders' leadership, the Buffaloes have seen a remarkable turnaround. He took over a team that finished 1-11 in 2022 and turned them into a must-watch side, developing the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner, and propelled them to a bowl-game contender.
Yet, despite his massive impact on the sport and his ability to draw national attention, Sanders' $5.7 million annual salary does not reflect his influence. He earns less than Kansas' Lance Leipold ($7.5M), Oklahoma State's Mike Gundy ($6.75M), and Utah's Kyle Whittingham ($6.5M).
