The Wofford Terriers defeated the Furman Paladins 92-85 in the SoCon Championship on Monday night at Harrah's Cherokee Center and the South Carolina college earned its spot in the March Madness tournament.

Five Terriers scored in double-digits on the night with Jackson Sivills scoring a career-high 20 points. The senior guard hit four threes en route to his career night. Also, senior center Kyler Filewich scored 13 points while Corey Tripp rounded out the group with 11 points.

Absolutely awful! One of the top Cinderella picks in March Madness will blow minds with this player

The Terriers have now won their sixth SoCon Tournament in program history. The last one came in the historic 2018-19 season. Wofford will await Selection Sunday on March 16 to find its next destination with the hope of making history in the big dance.

Granny free throws become a sensation

The Wofford Terriers earning a spot in March Madness is already a big story, but there's another element to it that caught the nation's attention: the way Kyler Filewich shoots free throws, a very unorthodow technique that's awful and fun to watch at the same time.

It's fair to say that the granny free throws are not effective. The senior center is shooting 32% from the line, which is a great sign that he needs to find another way of making free throws. But don't get it twisted: the 6'9 man is not a scrub by any means.

As a matter of fact, he was named the SoCon Tournament MVP and First Team All-Tournament. Filewich becomes the sixth Terrier in program history to earn SoCon Tournament MVP and the first since Fletcher Magee in 2019. It is the first time the team has had a player selected to the first team since the 2018-19 season.

A great season for the granny free throw shooter

The senior center out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, averaged 13 points, eight rebounds, and 2.7 assists throughout his SoCon Tournament run. He posted his 21st career double-double against ETSU in the quarterfinals, setting the program record for career double-doubles.

He started all 32 games for the Terriers and led the team in rebounding with 282 (8.8 rpg), which ranked fifth in the Southern Conference and 50th in the nation. He also scored 302 points (9.4 ppg) which was tied for third on the team.

Filewich was tied for first on the team with 108 assists (3.4 apg) that ranked ninth in the SoCon. His game added 17 blocks and 16 steals. The senior also led the team in rebounds in 23 games and posted a team-best ten double-doubles, and he's going to need to step up if Wofford wants to make a deep run in the dance.
