Neither the Browns nor the Raiders; the former Buffs star could end up with the most unlikely team.

Shedeur Sanders's run to the 2025 NFL Draft has been a roller coaster, to say the least. At times, the former Colorado star has been considered the top quarterback prospect, only to be demoted to an early second-rounder. Now, one analyst has proposed an unexpected destination for him: replacing a $150 million QB.

There is no draft candidate more divisive right now than the son of the legendary Deion Sanders. Even during his college football career, Shedeur was prone to embroiling himself in unnecessary controversies. However, since declaring for the 2025 draft, media attention has magnified his every move.

In these past few months, the media has linked the young Sanders to virtually every team that might need a quarterback, whether off the board or for future development. The latter would be the plan of a team Sanders hadn't been linked to until now, the New Orleans Saints.

Will New Orleans snatch Shedeur?

The 33rd Team's Kyle Crabbs added a new twist to Sanders' convoluted path into the draft. The analyst itted that his prediction would surprise many; however, he explained that, after the disappointment with Spencer Rattler, and Derek Carr approaching the halfway point of his contract, the Saints could very well take a chance on Sanders.

"Getting a transaction away from Derek Carr's contract will go a long way in the Saints outside of such an extreme salary cap cycle, and Sanders feels like an irable fit for [HC] Kellen Moores' offense," Crabbs explained.

Carr is entering the third year of his four-year, $150 million contract with New Orleans, with a $38.7 million check awaiting him this season. Furthermore, the star signal-caller will be 34 years old by the 2025 season, which could prompt talk of a generational shift within the Saints.

Will Shedeur agree to play for the Saints?

Deion Sanders, who has a significant say in his son's career, has two essential requirements for any team that wants to draft Shedeur: They must play in a large market and have a coaching staff with a strong track record of developing young quarterbacks.

Although neither has said so openly, it's also clear that both want Shedeur to be the starter from his first game in the NFL. This requirement complicates the outlook for New Orleans, which is unlikely to favor Shedeur over Carr. For the Saints, Sanders is their quarterback of the future, not the present.

Will the Saints take the risk of drafting Shedeur, knowing all that this entails? It's hard to say at this point, as at least three other teams are strongly linked to the former Buffaloes star, that could snatch him up long before New Orleans' turn comes around.
