- NCAA. Deion Sanders has had enough of Shedeur 'smear campaign' and is ready to put the NFL on blast
- NCAA. Tom Brady's Raiders can't afford to on superstar RB Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty's statistics from the 2024 NCAA football season may as well have originated from the "College Football 25" video game. Jeanty led the Boise State Broncos to a historic appearance in the College Football Playoff -- and garnered Heisman Trophy consideration -- as he rushed for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns, establishing himself as a first round-caliber draft prospect.
Jeanty's gaudy numbers and rushing style might make him a perfect fit in the Dallas Cowboys' backfield, as the franchise tries to turn itself around after a 7-10 season in 2024. And a franchise icon wants the Cowboys' longtime owner Jerry Jones to be aware of the state of play entering the 2025 NFL Draft.
Michael Irvin makes his preference clear: He wants Jeanty in Dallas
Jeanty's draft stock has steadily climbed in recent weeks, and many mock drafts now have the Boise State star coming off the board earlier than 12th overall, where the Cowboys are picking in the draft's first round. Still, legendary Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin has told Kay Adams that Jeanty would be a significant the team, as it tries to get back on track following a disappointing 2024 campaign.
"I'm hoping Jeanty is there," Irvin said. "He is a difference maker."
Irvin further compared Jeanty to Emmitt Smith, his former star teammate in Dallas -- not to mention the NFL's all-time leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. It may seem unfair to Jeanty to have such a lofty comparison lobbed his way a month before the draft, but it speaks to the player's burgeoning reputation as a workhorse -- and almost certainly, the first running back to come off the board on April 24.
