The University of Connecticut women's basketball beat the South Carolina Gamecocks to get their 12th national title behind graduate student Azzi Fudd's 27 points.
Her perfomance earned her the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player award, as she shot 10-for-13 from the field and 6-for-9 from three-point range, adding a career-high seven assists, two blocks and six steals.

Paige Bueckers gets called out by one of her 'victims'
Before the NCAA championship game, a very peculiar sign caught the attention of the TV cameras at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. It was a young woman that had a sign that read "I guarded Paige in high school and she cooked me!" along with a photo that proved her statement.
The legendary UConn guard attended Hopkins High School at Minnetonka, Minnesota. Paige was on the varsity team for five seasons, starting with her 8th-grade year. Bueckers was a three-time Gatorade Minnesota Player of the Year. She averaged 21 points, 9.2 assists, 5.2 steals, and 5.1 reboudns per game as a senior.
It's fair to say that Bueckers has been balling since she started playing serious ball in her life. The redshirt senior guard, who was the 2025 Big East Player of the Year, recorded 17 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and one steal for UConn at the title game against South Carolina.
Bueckers could be the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft
Paige Bueckers would most likely be the No. 1 pick of the 2025 WNBA Draft, which will happen on April 14 at New York City. The Dallas Wings, the team that has the rights to the first pick, are probably really happy to have the UConn legend as their player.
According to WNBA scouts, Bueckers is one of the most automatic and efficient scoreres in the history of college basketball. Paige is viewed as pro-ready as they come. As a matter of fact, she could have been drafted with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, just one spot behind superstar Caitlin Clark.
Bueckers is one of the greatest three-level scorers in college basketball history, which earned her the nickname "Paige Buckets." Also, Paige draws extra defensive attention and makes the right reads, and her career average of 4.6 assists per game stacks up against just 1.7 turnovers per game. At right around six feet even, Bueckers can match up against forwards with relative comfort and has even spent some time playing the power forward position.
