Hailey Van Lith's collegiate career has been quite an experience of accomplishments that have brought her to this point. From her beginnings at Louisville, when she helped lead the Cardinals to the 2022 Final Four, to her later stints with LSU and TCU.
Her final year of college basketball at TCU was the culmination of it all. She won the Big 12 Player of the Year award and led her team to its first Big 12 regular season and tournament title. In addition, she became the first NCAA player to reach the Elite Eight with three different teams: TCU, LSU and Louisville.
What will be Hailey Van Lith's new destination?
With the UConn Huskies victory in the NCAA women's basketball tournament, attention now turns to the WNBA Draft. Van Lith has repeatedly established herself as a fearless competitor and an elite scorer.
With just a few days to go before teams make their selections from April 14, talk is intensifying about possible picks, especially when it comes to dynamic point guards who can make an immediate impact.
The 1.75-meter guard is now averaging 17.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. With the WNBA Draft just around the corner, the question is: What will her new team be?
Here are the top five teams in which the Wenatchee, Washington, native could fit in perfectly.
Los Angeles Sparks are the top choice
With the ninth overall pick, the Sparks need a leading point guard, and Van Lith's scoring efficiency and court vision could be the boost they need for their perimeter. They need her alongside Kelsey Plum.
Another interesting option is the Indiana Fever with Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston forming a great young core, the addition of Van Lith with her great versatility and offensive strength could give them a solid two-way presence at the point guard position.
The Phoenix Mercury, with an eye on the recovery of Diana Taurasi, could also benefit from Van Lith's fearless play.
Her ability to create in crunch time would complement Kahleah Copper, the Finals MVP, as the Mercury's new tool for the future.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Lynx, who suffered a narrow defeat in the Finals, could see her as the missing spark in their point guard rotation.
Meanwhile, the Seattle Storm could look to bring Van Lith to Washington to revitalize their roster and fan base.
No matter where she ends up, Van Lith's combination of skill, leadership and relentless drive makes her one of the top prospects to watch in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
As if that wasn't enough, among all her qualities, she has a hidden, simple beauty that the people at Sports Illustrated spotted and did a swimsuit shoot with her.
