- Stephen A. Smith rips warriors management: 'They've abandoned Stephen Curry!'
- Pat McAfee is nearly shot on live TV after a reckless act that will raise questions at ESPN
ESPN has one of the most important sports commentators in the industry. They are always on point and very controversial at times, which makes it even better. Two of those are Stephen A. Smith and the former NFL punter Pat McAfee.
They have become good friends as they have worked together for a while now and that came in handy when one came to the rescue of the other. Stephen A. came to the defense of Pat after he took a shot at reporters.
It all happened during a media day at the network and McAfee took the time to say that his outlet was never given a chance to really expressed what they felt on his podcast when covering events.
Stephen A. Smith to the rescue
This is what Pat McAfee said; "I think they're misguided," McAfee bemoaned during the ESPN media day. "I would appreciate if you would give me and my guys a chance. I think we're helping out sports media as a whole in the future. I think we're going to get some things wrong and we apologize for that. But whenever you're ripping our s- and trying to kill us, I think 'journalistic standards' certainly is problematic."
Stephen A. Smith to pride in defending him when people attacked. "Pat McAfee, obviously, expressed his opinion about the coverage he was receiving from the media out there. I gotta tell you, you can debate delivery, presentation, whatever; what you can't debate is that he made some very valid points," Smith on his own show.
"Because people have been going at him from Day 1, they have been blaming him, and they have been trying to malign the show. And him speaking up for himself, I don't blame him one damn bit - he was right to do so. Let me get that out of the way."
