Police have reported that former NFL running back Eddie Lacy's blood alcohol level was more than four times the legal limit during his DUI arrest last month. The incident unfolded on September 30 in Scottsdale, Arizona, when a woman called 911, alarmed by the reckless driving of an Audi SUV she believed could lead to a serious accident.
The vehicle, which matched Lacy's, was soon stopped by Scottsdale police officers who were alerted to the scene.
According to the police report obtained by TMZ Sports, officers quickly noticed that Lacy seemed disoriented. Body cam footage captured him struggling to speak clearly, even after an officer recognized him from his days as an Alabama Crimson Tide star.
Lacy told officers he had just flown in from Green Bay and was heading to his girlfriend's house, which he claimed was only a short distance away.
He itted to having "a single shot" of tequila on the flight, but when officers asked him to take a breathalyzer test, his BAC level came back at a staggering .325 - far exceeding Arizona's legal limit of .08.
Despite acknowledging he had a previous DUI, Lacy appeared uncertain about the specifics of the legal limit when questioned.
Due to injuries Lacy attributed to his football career, he could not perform traditional field sobriety tests, but his breathalyzer results led to his arrest.
Not the first DUI offense
Court documents show he is facing several charges, including extreme DUI with a BAC of 0.20 or higher. He is expected to appear in court for a hearing next month.
This is not Lacy's first DUI offense. Records indicate he was previously arrested in March 2022 for driving in Scottsdale with a BAC of .247.
Ironically, just days before this latest incident, Lacy had been back at Lambeau Field, where he played for the Green Bay Packers from 2013 to 2017, amassing over 3,600 rushing yards in his NFL career.
