The NFL is set to make history with its first-ever regular-season game in Spain, scheduled for 2025 in Madrid. During an exclusive interview with MARCA, Houston Texans safety Jalen Pitre, Carolina Panthers wide receiver Adam Thielen, and Miami Dolphins left tackle Terron Armstead shared their excitement about playing abroad and their iration for some of soccer's biggest stars.
With the NFL expanding its international presence, players are eager to experience the unique atmosphere of playing in Spain.

Excitement for the NFL game in Madrid
Adam Thielen expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I hope our team goes. That would be great." Jalen Pitre echoed the sentiment, stating, "It's really cool to be able to go into other countries and show them what we do. It's going to be really exciting."
Having already played overseas four times, Terron Armstead emphasized how special these opportunities are for players and the league. "Every time I go, I absolutely love it. It's a great opportunity to showcase how great this game is and grow the fanbase."
A nod to soccer's biggest names
While American football is their ion, some NFL stars have an appreciation for soccer. When asked about the sport, Jalen Pitre itted, "I like the obvious ones-Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar-but I wouldn't say I'm a fan at all." However, he recognized Cristiano Ronaldo's greatness, stating, "He's definitely one of the best."
For Adam Thielen, soccer became more interesting after meeting his wife, who played the sport. "I got a little more into it when I met her," he shared. He also recalled his experience attending an Arsenal game in London, describing it as "a pretty cool experience."
Madrid: A city to
Terron Armstead, who has previously visited Spain, spoke highly of Madrid, calling it "maybe the best place I've ever traveled internationally." He praised the city's energy, culture, and, of course, its food. "Some paella, I ate it almost every day!" he confessed.
With the NFL set to touch down in Madrid, these players are eager to take the field and experience the ion of Spanish fans. As Armstead summed up, "Hopefully, we can continue to grow the game overseas and show how great this sport really is."
