Hall of Fame NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe is facing a civil lawsuit in Nevada after being accused of sexual assault and battery by a woman identified in court documents only as Jane Doe.
The 56-year-old television personality and former Denver Broncos star is being sued for a range of serious allegations, including sexual assault, battery, and the intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Civil complaint alleges Sharpe secretly recorded and shared intimate videos
According to a report by Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, the lawsuit alleges that Sharpe and the woman were involved in a two-year consensual relationship.
However, she claims that he crossed numerous boundaries during that time, most notably by recording their sexual encounters-sometimes without her knowledge-and sharing those videos with others without her consent.
"The complaint alleges that Sharpe recorded their sexual activities, sometimes without her knowledge, and that he was sharing the videos with others without her permission or knowledge," Florio wrote.
The woman is seeking at least $50 million in damages, citing the emotional and psychological impact of Sharpe's alleged actions.
She is being represented by attorneys Micah Nash and Tony Buzbee, the latter of whom is known for representing multiple women in the high-profile sexual misconduct case against former Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.
While Sharpe has not publicly commented on the lawsuit, the case is likely to generate widespread attention given his prominent role as a media figure and NFL legend. As the legal process unfolds, further developments are expected in what is quickly becoming one of the most high-profile civil cases involving a former athlete in recent memory.
