The Ohio State Buckeyes dominated the selections in the 2025 NFL Draft after their impressive NCAA National Championship win, closely followed by the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns as the SEC and Big Ten proved their immense football value.
College football's two premier conferences, the Big Ten and the SEC are powerhouse programs often putting the best young talent into the professional game and this year proved no exception; although there were some surprises elsewhere.
Firstly, Ohio State topped all schools with 14 players selected and demonstrated a testament to the talent accumulation under head coach Ryan Day, producing a deep roster of NFL-ready players.
Several were chosen in the early rounds, reflecting the program's depth and development, beginning with wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, selected 19th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He was followed by offensive lineman Donovan Jackson 24th, defensive lineman Tyleik Williams at 28th, and offensive tackle Josh Simmons closing out the first round at 32nd.
Close behind the Buckeyes were the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns, with 13 and 12 selections, respectively as Georgia's defensive prowess was once again on display.
Georgia maintained its reputation as one of the premier developers of defensive talent under head coach Kirby Smart and had three first-round picks through their defensive end, Mykel Williams at 11th; linebacker Jalon Walker at 15th, and standout safety Malaki Starks at 27th.
Texas also enjoyed a strong showing. The Longhorns' draft class marks another step forward under their head coach, Steve Sarkisian; who has positioned the program as a competitive force in the newly expanded SEC.
Which school had the most picks in the 2025 NFL Draft?
Notably, the Miami Hurricanes were the only school outside the Big Ten and SEC to crack the top 10, showing off their own talents on the football field.
Cam Ward was selected first overall by the Tennessee Titans from the Hurricanes in a minor upset to Travis Hunter, underscoring the impact of top-tier talent from outside the traditional power structure.
"He's [Ward] about as juiced as you can get," Mario Cristobal, Hurricanes' head coach, said. "He'd rather skip all of this and go right to work, to be quite honest with you.
"That's what he is. That's what he's always been. All of the conversations are about the next steps for him. I think people are gonna be really happy with what they see out of him."
