If you blinked, you might have missed the latest controversy between Antonio Brown and the Sanders family. But Cam Newton made sure you didn't miss the truth.
On his recent "4th and 1" podcast, the former MVP quarterback dropped some serious criticism in defense of former Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders, after Brown generated controversy by posting an old training video where he was apparently shaming the young defensive back.
"Are you telling me that out of a whole track session we only see two videos?" Newton asked, distrusting the viral content that discredited Shilo.
The moment went beyond a simple viral comment. Brown, who also criticized Shedeur Sanders and even head coach Deion "Prime" Sanders, captioned a video: "Deion using me to help his sorry [expletive] kids."
Cam couldn't believe Brown's story.
He revealed that Shilo himself ed him and sent him unseen images from the same session. According to Cam, the full context shows a much more competitive match than Brown's highlight video suggested.
"These videos," Newton said, "show a young Shilo, maybe still in high school, going up against A.B. at the top of his game. It's not a fair matchup. And let's face it, A.B. was arguably the best wide receiver in the league at that time."
Shilo, who is now fighting for a spot on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' roster after g as an undrafted free agent, bore the brunt of the criticism. Newton did not mince words about how this footage could hurt Shilo's professional career.
"In Shilo's defense, he's trying to make his way into the team," Newton said. "That we covered that was not ideal in his situation. And I take that on board."
Newton ended with a direct challenge:
"Antonio Brown, you have 24 hours to respond. You're on the clock."
Although Deion Sanders opted for grace - "I will never speak ill of you, either publicly or privately," he wrote on X - Newton makes sure the story is not one-sided.
For Buffs fans following from Boulder to Tampa, one thing is clear: the Sanders name is not going away, and neither are those who it.
