The Baltimore Ravens have their eyes on a Super Bowl this season. This offseason, they re-signed Lamar Jackson to a massive deal and switched offensive coordinators to make the offense more consistent and explosive.
While the Ravens perennially have a solid defense, they needed some -rush help. In order to fortify the position, they have signed Jadeveon Clowney.
Clowney s a list of notable veterans that have signed one-year deals to compete for a ring with the Ravens.
- WR Odell Beckham Jr.
- CB Ronald Darby
- CB Rock Ya-Sin
- WR Nelson Agholor
- RB Melvin Gordon
- DL Angelo Blackson
Clowney is expected to be a rotational -rusher and will split time with Odafe Oweh, David Ojabo and Tavius Robinson. Robinson is a rookie and the other two outside linebackers have a total of 9.0 sacks between them in their short careers.
Can Clowney finally shine?
This will be the fifth team of Clowney's career. He most recently played for the Cleveland Browns and has spent time with the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks. The former first overall pick of the Houston Texans in 2014 hasn't been a bust, but he's never showcased his full potential.
His career high in sacks in a season was 9.5 in 2017, and he's only gotten more than 6.0 sacks in two other seasons. He accumulated just 2.0 sacks and 4 tackles for loss in 12 games in 2022.
