It read: "BREAKING: USC QB Caleb Williams wants assurances the #Bears will be trading the first overall pick before declaring for the draft. Williams and his camp have no interest in playing in Chicago."

This tweet received more than 4.5 million views in the space of four hours, which has led to speculation concerning Williams' future.

However, it is well-documented on X that Steinberg, who claims to be a 'NY Insider', is actually a fake that was set up only two years ago.

The verified tick on the platform may have duped some into believing he was a genuine reporter, mainly due to the changes brought in on X which allows s to pay a monthly fee to get 'verified'.

The latest on Caleb Williams' future

The USC Trojans quarterback, 22, is considered a rare prospect and is likely to be hot property when the NFL Draft takes place in April.

But while it is possible that he does not the Bears, there is currently no indication from the player's camp to suggest that the report is accurate.

The Bears currently own the No. 1 pick in the draft and according to reports, they are yet to decide if they will use it on a quarterback or finding other top young players to help build for the future around their current starter, Justin Fields.

In the event the Bears keep Fields, they would receive a lot of offers for the top pick - and Williams is the name on everybody's lips.

In the recent NFL Mock Draft predictions, both SI.com and PFF.com backed Williams to earn a move to the Bears.
