There was a moment this season that only Chicago Bears fans will , when it looked like the Bears were going to be a formidable opponent and a contender for a Wild Card playoff spot. But that was two months ago, and since their 35-16 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, they haven't won a game. They fired their head coach, and with last night's loss to the Vikings, they have now lost eight in a row, leaving serious doubts about the future of this year's first overall pick, Caleb Williams. The main concern remains the offensive line, as Williams is the most sacked quarterback this season with 58 followed by C.J. Stroud's 45.

Troy Aikman Hot Take on Caleb Williams

The first of those eight losses will be well ed - it was when Tyrique Stevenson taunted the opposing fans before tipping the ball, which eventually deflected right into the hands of Noah Brown for the game-winning Hail Mary touchdown for the Commanders and second overall pick Jayden Daniels. Yesterday, the Bears didn't even put up a fight as they were easily overpowered by the Vikings. The only bright spots were a blocked punt and a few flashes of brilliance from the defense. But something else caught the eye of 3-time Super Bowl champion commentator Troy Aikman, and he said so live on the air: "When you watch him, you can tell that he's a defeated guy. What you worry about is a rookie quarterback losing confidence"

A Season to Forget: Chicago's Offensive Struggles

The Bears currently hold a top-10 draft pick in 2025, and it's clear they need to draft an offensive lineman to protect Caleb Williams. Frankly, I doubt they'll win any of their remaining three games, which include two at home (Lions and Seahawks) and the season finale in Green Bay. This could give them an even higher draft pick, which would be nice. It's a sad situation for a team that is on the verge of going four straight seasons without a playoff appearance and has only made the playoffs three times since losing the Super Bowl in 2006 and has just four winning seasons. The Bears have truly become the definition of mediocrity.

On the plus side, their defense is solid. However, with the offense completely ineffective, the defense spends too much time on the field, and the fatigue is showing. Williams can forget about winning Rookie of the Year, even though he will likely sur 3,000 ing yards, becoming the first Bears quarterback to do so since Mitchell Trubisky did it in consecutive seasons in 2018-2019.

Williams began the season as the favorite to win Rookie of the Year, but now that award will likely come down to second overall pick Jayden Daniels and Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, who in my opinion has been the most consistent rookie, and his stats back that up. The downside for Bowers is that he doesn't have a reliable quarterback, but help could come next season with Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward.
