The Chicago Bears will be under the new leadership of Ben Johnson when the NFL returns later this year, and things are going to be a little different as the franchise is looking for redemption.
Johnson spoke to NFL Network on X to share what he will carry over to the Bears from his time working with the Detroit Lions.
"We were just looking for new ways to simply raise that number for us. How do we get a higher completion percentage? I think what you saw with Jared (Goff), he had probably a career high in of completion percentage, and also augmenting the run-after-catch with our catchers as well," Johnson said.
"So it's something we've talked about, and it's something we drilled. So I want to say that we were pretty good a year ago in that department in Detroit. Something I'd love to carry over here to Chicago."
A big task for Johnson
One of the main tasks for the 38-year-old coach will be to get 2024 No.1 draft pick Caleb Williams to start performing in the way that was expected of him.
"It's a completely different year," Johnson said. "I know last year didn't go the way that a lot of them wanted it to go, but we're going to start fresh. We're going to keep the standard very high. We're going to set that bar high and we're going to push toward it each and every day."
Another task for Johnson will be coaching big stars, with Jonathan Owens' relationship with gymnast Simone Biles often dominating headlines around the Bears.
Biles and Owens have recently expanded their family a little further by adopting a new dog to their home, alongside their other trio of pets, as they pick up a Doberman.
The family already own three bulldogs so this is a big change in pace for the Olympian and her NFL husband, with Dobermans standing up to 28 inches at the shoulder and being a naturally athletic breed demanding more attention.
