Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens brought unmatched glamour to the 2025 Met Gala on May 5, dazzling the red carpet at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art. As part of the event's star-studded host committee alongside Doechii, Regina King, and Angel Reese, the power couple turned heads with coordinated looks that perfectly captured the "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style" theme and "Tailored for You" dress code.
Met Gala Magic: "More Stressful Than the Olympics"
Biles, 28, stunned in a vibrant blue bustled minidress, featuring glittering black ornamentation, a satin finish, and a flowing train, paired with towering four-inch heels she playfully teased pre-event. Owens, 29, complemented her in a crisp all-white suit with blue accents, including a dazzling Margot McKinney Atlantic pendant with a 119.44-carat aquamarine, South Sea pearl, and diamonds. His white fur cape and black cane embodied the Black dandyism-inspired theme with bold sophistication.
Speaking to livestream hosts Teyana Taylor, La La Anthony, and Ego Nwodim, Biles and Owens joked that preparing for the Met Gala was "more stressful than the Olympics." The couple, celebrating their second wedding anniversary the next day, called the evening the "ultimate date night." Biles, beaming, shared, "I'm just excited to be with my husband," noting they've been navigating long-distance this month due to Owens' Chicago Bears commitments.
Behind the Scenes: Pre-Gala Prep
Ahead of the event, Biles gave fans a glimpse of her prep on Instagram Stories. "MET MONDAY," she captioned a selfie in a hotel robe, smiling as Owens kissed her cheek in a sweet moment, with the NFL safety rocking a black tee and chain necklace. The posts built anticipation for their red-carpet triumph.
Announced by Vogue in October, the 2025 Met Gala's co-chairs include Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James as honorary chair. A fundraiser for The Costume Institute, the event spotlights the spring 2025 exhibition, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," inspired by Monica L. Miller's 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. Curator Andrew Bolton notes the exhibit explores "the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier," with a focus on menswear and suiting.
