Without a doubt, the most unexpected news of the 2025 NFL Draft was the 144th selection of Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round by Cleveland Browns.

Expectations were high for the former Colorado Buffaloes' pick but his promising performance, so his late selection left many fans and athletes surprised, including himself.

However, during the team's rookie minicamp, the quarterback has made a very good impression and has shown that the Browns have made the right decision by stopping his fall.

This was reported by @NFLRookieWatxh, who also let it be known that several sources close to the team have no doubt that Shedeur has what it takes to move up quickly and that he is the most talented QB among the options Cleveland has.

Sanders reportedly threw the ball with the touch, accuracy and precision of a 10-year NFL veteran and left Browns coaches "shocked." And that could be a determining factor when selecting a QB1, because of Sanders' ability to adapt and make key decisions quickly, something that could bring big benefits to the team.

Also, that would be Shedeur's big goal: to win the QB1 position with the Browns. And he wouldn't stop there, as he would look to compete for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award this season and make those teams that ed him up during the Draft look bad.

The fight for the starting QB job

The Browns will have a tough decision to make on who will fill the starting quarterback job. With Deshaun Watson - the 2024 starter - recovering from his Achilles injury, with four options to fill the quarterback spot, the option of releasing one of them is not out of the question.

Shedeur Sanders is ed by Dillon Gabriel, who was acquired by the team during the third round of the draft. In addition, veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, who were already with the team are also available options from Cleveland.

And although Sanders has shown great results, the Browns, at the moment, do not have a clear starter. For this reason, each of the contenders will have to push themselves to the limit.
