Shedeur Sanders sends a message aimed at the 31 teams that ed on him in the NFL Draft

No one imagined that Shedeur Sanders would fall all the way to the fifth round after being ed over by 31 NFL teams. For months, he had been projected as a first-round talent - maybe early second round - but the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback saw his stock slowly drop until the Cleveland Browns selected him with the 144th overall pick.

Sanders has developed his career as a quarterback thanks to his mental toughness. That same strength helped him post solid numbers at the University of Colorado. Now, after everything he went through entering the NFL, he will once again have to go against the odds. The Browns currently have four other quarterbacks: Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, along with rookies Dillon Gabriel and Sanders himself. Well, five if you count Deshaun Watson - but he's injured, and his days in Cleveland seem numbered.

Shedeur Sanders himself has said he hopes to follow in the footsteps of Tom Brady, who was famously selected in the sixth round and went on to become the greatest quarterback of all time. Brady even gave Sanders some advice: "Use it as motivation. You'll get your opportunities. Take advantage of them."

Shannon Sharpe offers advice to Shedeur Sanders

Three-time Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe - twice with the Denver Broncos and once with the Baltimore Ravens - appeared on the show Nightcap with Chad Johnson, where he discussed the quarterback situation in Cleveland. Sharpe believes Joe Flacco has the edge, but that Shedeur can sur Kenny Pickett.

Why Did Shedeur Sanders Slide All the Way to the Fifth Round?

"Kenny Pickett has been in the league for a while. I don't know how much you're going to learn from him," Sharpe said. "You already know who the best is. So Flacco will start at some point. If Flacco doesn't play, then Shedeur Sanders will come in and be the quarterback of the future."

Sharpe also emphasized that if Sanders ever gets an opportunity, he must seize it - just like Tom Brady did with the New England Patriots.

"And if Shedeur is who he believes he is - and who his ers believe he is - when the opportunity comes, he'll step in and never look back. That's exactly what happened with Tom Brady. Brady was picked in the sixth round. He didn't play his first year and was on the bench at the beginning of his second. Someone got hurt, he stepped in, and never left the field."

Shedeur will have to prove that he truly has the talent that both he and many saw during his time with the Colorado Buffaloes. It will be a tough road, but if he succeeds and makes a mark in the NFL, his story could become a powerful lesson in resilience.
