Recently, Aikman stirred things up a bit when, on an appearance on Pardon the Interruption, he was asked which current NFL team he'd want to play for. Many thought he'd answer "Cowboys" without a second thought-but Aikman had a surprising pick: the San Francisco 49ers.
"The team that I've been a real irer of here over the last several years is the San Francisco 49ers," Aikman shared. He highlighted head coach Kyle Shanahan's strategic prowess and physical style of play, something he clearly ires. "I mentioned Kyle Shanahan's offense; I love what he's been doing in the league as an offensive coordinator," Aikman continued, "and I love the way his teams play. They play a physical style of ball that you don't see that much in today's game."
Aikman even noted how this modern 49ers team reminds him of the Cowboys he played with, saying, "It reminds me a lot of the teams that I was a part of in Dallas."

Even so, their current status as a playoff contender in the NFC under Shanahan's direction has impressed even those beyond the Bay Area-Aikman included.

Some believe owner and general manager Jerry Jones should step down from his GM role to bring new leadership into the mix, especially with the team likely to consider hiring a new head coach after this season. The pressure is high, and fans are anxiously waiting to see how Jones and the Cowboys respond to the mounting criticism.
