It's a crucial offseason for the Dallas Cowboys; stop us if you've heard that before. Following a season in which the team missed out on the playoffs, thanks in large part to Dak Prescott's season-ending injury, Jerry Jones opted to part ways with head coach Mike McCarthy. The team has also seen some longstanding veterans depart.
In the meantime, the front office has chosen to take a "selectively aggressive" approach to free agency. Their biggest move was re-g one of their own, and the roster hasn't really gotten any better. Micah Parsons also remains without a big contract extension, with Jones choosing to exercise patience in that regard. With free agency practically over, the NFL Draft is where Jones and the Cowboys must make a splash. Many believe it will be an offense-heavy approach, as the team focused on defense in free agency.
While wide receiver appears to be the common pick for the Cowboys in the first round of many mock drafts, running back may well be the more glaring need. The team let 1,000 yard rusher Rico Dowdle walk in free agency, bringing in middling veterans Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders to replace him. The 2025 draft class is stacked with talented running backs, though, and there's one who stands out for the Cowboys: Quinshon Judkins.
Quinshon Judkins speaks about "awesome" Jerry Jones meeting
The Ole Miss-turned-Ohio State product is reportedly high on Dallas' board, and he recently visited with the team. While speaking about that meeting, Judkins raved about meeting with Jones, calling him "a great guy" and revealing that Jones was open to Judkins asking him questions and having a natural conversation.
Judkins feels that Jones has a strong relationship with his players, which is what makes the running back so intrigued about potentially having Jones as his leader. Judkins then spilled more details about the "coffee meeting". It seems like it went extremely well.
Judkins ran for over 1,000 yards in all three of his collegiate seasons, scoring 50 total touchdowns. He helped the Buckeyes win the National Championship in his final season. He's expected to be a second or third round pick in the draft.
