- NFL. Josh Allen's MVP case grows stronger in Bills' thrilling win over Lions
- NFL. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' biggest challenge might not be his injury but what's coming next for their dynasty
Yesterday we witnessed one of the most anticipated games of the season, which many considered a preview of the Super Bowl. The Buffalo Bills triumphed over the Detroit Lions in a thrilling 48-42 victory. Led by MVP candidate Josh Allen, the Bills took on a Lions team that, with Jared Goff at the helm, had qualified for the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, a feat not accomplished since 1994 and 1995. This year, the Lions also reached another milestone, posting back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in their 95-season history. These historic achievements have come under the leadership of Dan Campbell, although much of the blame for yesterday's loss has been placed on him.

Christen Harper and Jared Goff on the Spotlight
Despite the loss, the Lions remain in first place in the NFC, but their numerous injuries on defense - more on that later - put the team in a position where they need to score 30 or more points to secure a win. Given the importance and excitement of this game, many of the players' families were in attendance, including Jared Goff's wife, Christen Harper. She shared a post with the caption, "Gameday in Detroit with @shopbop," showing off her fashionable and stunning look, as she often does as a model.
Harper s Simone Biles and, of course, Taylor Swift on the list of famous WAGs who consistently show their for their partners. But despite her for Goff and the Lions, it wasn't enough to prevent Detroit's first loss in 12 games. Goff made history this season as the first quarterback to win a game despite throwing five interceptions (Week 10 vs. Texans) and lose a game in which he threw five touchdowns (Week 15 vs. Bills). Under Goff's leadership, the Lions' offense leads the league with 57 touchdowns thanks to a balanced attack between the air and ground games. It remains to be seen how long David Montgomery will be absent and how much it will affect his absence.
Injuries and the Road Ahead for the Lions
The Lions' main problem is their defense. With so many injuries, the team is running out of options as five starters are currently on injured reserve. Only the nose tackle and free safety positions remain with their original starters from the beginning of the season. Coach Dan Campbell has stated that now is not the time to panic and that he will work to turn things around with the players available. Easier said than done, but for the sake of their extraordinary season, we hope he succeeds.
The Lions have two consecutive road games in the coming weeks. First, they face the Bears, a team they narrowly defeated 23-20 in Detroit just a few weeks ago. After that, they'll have a chance for revenge against the 49ers, the team that eliminated them in last season's NFC Championship Game. However, this year's 49ers are a completely different team than last season. The Lions will close out their season at home against the Vikings in what will likely be the final Sunday Night Football game of the year. The winner of this game could clinch the division title and most likely the top seed in the NFC.
