Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones agreed to restructuring his contract to lower si salary for the 2023 season in order to stay put with the organization and help the franchise deal with the salary cap.
The paycut was considerable, but it gave the player the opportunity to guarantee a huge chunk of his salary and receive it as a g bonus.
How much was Aaron Jones getting paid before restructuring his deal?
Aaron Jones was set to make $16 million dollars this year in his contract with the Green Bay Packers, but none of that money was guaranteed, meaning that if the team decided to cut him before the season started, they only would've needed to take the salary cap hit, but wouldn't have had to pay him a single dollar.
This way Aaron Jones received and $8.52 million dollars g bonus aout of the $11 million total salary he agreed for the 2023 season with the team.
Despite Green Bay's offense not being as explosive as it was in years past, Jones still managed to run for over 1,100 yards, on top of 395 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns during 2022.
