The woman who accused Jackson Mahomes of sexual assault has decided to shut down her restaurant due to a significant loss in profits.
Aspen Vaughn, the owner of Aspens, has been in the headlines since accusations against Mahomes emerged earlier this year.
The brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is accused of assaulting a waiter and kissing Aspen without consent back in February.
He will appear in court on charges of aggravated battery assault and misdemeanour battery on August 31.
Profits dramatically fall at Aspens
As for Aspen, The Kansas City Star reports she has seen profits plummet by 75 percent since the legal battle began.
It looks as though the negative publicity and ongoing legal proceedings have hurt the establishment, with customers now staying away.
Along with financial hardships, Vaughn stated she has been hit by acts of vandalism as well, including connections to the restaurant's central air conditioning unit being cut, damage to natural gas lines and even water damage after having a fire alarm pulled.
"I feel like since it's occurred my safety is definitely at risk," she told The Star.
"I'm feeling attacked by people I've never met.
"Why do victims not come forward? It's because this is how they get treated."
