Fresh off back-to-back Super Bowl victories, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, and the Kansas City Chiefs are heading into this season with a rare opportunity to pursue a three-peat-a feat only eight NFL teams have ever attempted, but none have achieved. This potential accomplishment would be another milestone in Mahomes' already remarkable six-season career as a starting quarterback. Mahomes spent his rookie year in 2017 behind Alex Smith, a season that saw the Chiefs eliminated by the Tennessee Titans. However, it marked the beginning of a new NFL dynasty, one that now appears stronger than ever as they enter this season as reigning champions.

Chiefs: A Balanced and Successful Team

While the Mahomes-led offense, under the guidance of head coach Andy Reid, has been the most prominent aspect of this dynasty, the defense-led by Chris Jones and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo-played a crucial role in keeping the team afloat last season, which was statistically Mahomes' worst. Jones, drafted 37th overall in 2016, has been a playoff fixture in every season since ing the Chiefs and has become the cornerstone and captain of their defense. In an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio alongside former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith, Jones reflected on his time with the team, saying, "I've been through nothing but the playoffs... life has been pretty good." He also mentioned to coach Reid that this has been the best training camp of his career.

Jones missed the last two training camps due to contract disputes but secured his future with the Chiefs on March 9, just under a month after their Super Bowl win, by g a five-year, $158.75 million contract, including a $30 million g bonus and $95 million guaranteed. Jones is the only remaining starter on defense from the team's previous Super Bowl runs, and along with Kelce and Mahomes, he is one of just three players to have appeared in all four of the Chiefs' recent Super Bowls and to have won all three Vince Lombardi trophies. His impact and presence are absolutely critical to the Chiefs' continued success.

NFL Season Begins Tomorrow

The Chiefs' offense looks primed for another successful season with Travis Kelce continuing to dominate and the rise of Rashee Rice, who set a record for most postseason receptions by a rookie (26). Although Marquise "Hollywood" Brown will miss the first few weeks, his addition, along with the deep-threat potential of rookie Xavier Worthy and the return of JuJu Smith-Schuster, could propel Mahomes to sur 5,000 ing yards and 35 touchdown es this season. Last season, Mahomes tallied 4,183 ing yards and 27 touchdowns, despite it being one of his less productive years. If the defense performs as it did last year and the team secures home-field advantage in the playoffs, their biggest challenge might be avoiding injuries.
