Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has addressed the debate surrounding Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes' possible political differences. When asked whether she thought it mattered if the two, who hold contrasting political views, were friends, Whitmer took a neutral approach.
In contrast, many have taken a more intense interest in the potential rift between the two women.
"We do care about Taylor Swift and, no, we shouldn't give a damn," Whitmer told the Bravo channel.
Brittany Mahomes, married to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who plays alongside Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelce, has come under scrutiny for her apparent of former President Trump.
In August, she liked a post from Trump outlining his 2024 platform, which triggered backlash, especially from Taylor Swift fan s.
Mahomes' cryptic messages
Since then, Mahomes has posted a series of cryptic Instagram stories, potentially alluding to the controversy, and liked comments ing Trump, including one suggesting a "TRUMP-VANCE 2024" ticket.
"I mean honestly, To be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood," she wrote. "There's no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well."
Swift, however, has been vocal about her for the current istration, endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris after a September debate. This difference led to former President Trump commenting on Fox & Friends that he prefers "Mrs. Mahomes much better" than Swift.
"Contrary to the tone of the world today....you can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind," Mahomes wrote. "Read that again!"
Though Swift's presence continues to draw attention at Chiefs games, the question of whether political differences will affect her friendship with Mahomes remains. Both women appear to be prioritizing their personal lives and maintaining respect for each other's opinions, at least for now.
