In a significant development in the ongoing legal feud between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, the latter has dropped a subpoena previously issued to Taylor Swift.
The move marks the latest twist in a high-profile case that has blurred the lines between Hollywood drama and real-life courtroom tension.
Taylor Swift erased from Blake vs. Baldoni circus
The subpoena, which sought documents from Swift and her legal counsel in relation to It Ends With Us, was met with swift resistance from both Swift's and Lively's teams.
A spokesperson for Lively confirmed on May 22 that Baldoni's legal team had officially withdrawn the request, stating they were "pleased" by the decision and criticizing the original move as an attempt to drag Swift into an unrelated legal battle.
"We ed the efforts of Taylor's team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel," the spokesperson said.
"We will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process."
Lively's team has accused Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer, of attempting to exploit Swift's celebrity for media attention.
"The Baldoni and Wayfarer team have tried to put Taylor Swift...at the center of this case since day one," Lively's rep claimed.
"Faced with having to justify themselves in federal court, they folded."
Swift, who only permitted the use of her song "My Tears Ricochet" on the It Ends With Us soundtrack, has maintained she had no direct involvement with the film.
"Taylor Swift never set foot on the set...did not score the film...did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its release," her spokesperson previously stated, describing the subpoena as an effort "to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait."
This legal battle, sparked by Lively's December 2024 complaint alleging sexual harassment and retaliation by Baldoni, has grown increasingly complex.
Accusations have flown in both directions, including a recently stricken claim by Baldoni's attorneys that Lively threatened to leak private texts with Swift, a charge Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed as "improper" and irrelevant.
Though this particular subpoena has been withdrawn, Swift's proximity to the dispute, both personally and through court filings, suggests her name may continue to surface as the case proceeds toward a March 2026 trial date.
