Maxx Crosby has shared details on how injuries during the 2023 season impacted his performance. The Raiders star dealt with injuries to his thumb and left knee, which both required surgeries in January.
As a key player and leader for the Las Vegas Raiders, Crosby has stood out with his performance despite the team's struggles to make the playoffs. With his recovery complete, Crosby is focused on preparing for what he hopes will be the best season of his career, expressing his readiness to go all out in the games.
His cautious approach
Crosby told ESPN that his practice sessions were limited throughout the season to prevent aggravating his injuries, which hindered him from training at full capacity. This cautious approach was necessary to avoid ruling himself out of game days.
He sees the surgeries as a temporary setback that has enabled him to recover more fully, describing it as taking a step back to move three steps forward. This recovery has put him in a much better place physically.
"I was damn near limited every single day, the whole season in practice, and things like that," he noted.
"And I had to learn to make an adjustment because I can't just go out there and run my knee into the ground. I had to be ready for Sunday. It made me take a step back so I could take three steps forward, and I feel like that's what this offseason was all about."
