After another year of failing to meet expectations, the Las Vegas Raiders are embracing yet another fresh start-this time with former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith and longtime Seattle head coach Pete Carroll now on board. For owner Mark Davis, this offseason marks a period of cautious optimism and honest reflection.

At the NFL's annual league meeting, Davis spoke openly about the team's recent struggles and acknowledged his own role in the ongoing turnover.

"I just didn't get it right. That's all there is to it," he said candidly, referencing the carousel of coaching changes over the past few seasons.

In fact, the Raiders will be entering their third straight season with a new head coach. Josh McDaniels started the 2023 season in charge before being dismissed midseason and replaced by interim coach Antonio Pierce.

Now, with Carroll at the helm, the Raiders are looking to build a stable culture that has eluded them for years. Despite the challenges, Davis remains upbeat.

"I say it every year, this is my favorite time. We are undefeated," he joked, pointing to the offseason's blank slate as the league's 32 teams prepare for a new year of possibilities.

"Are we going to win the Super Bowl this year? I don't know. It's possible."

According to ESPN Bet, Las Vegas currently sits at 100-1 odds to win it all, which ranks them 24th out of 32 teams. But in the NFL, a team's fortunes can shift quickly-especially with solid draft picks and new leadership.

That leadership now includes Geno Smith, who was acquired in a trade from Seattle. Smith had a career resurgence under Pete Carroll's watch in Seattle, earning Pro Bowl honors and revitalizing his NFL career. The hope in Las Vegas is that reuniting the duo will bring similar results-and much-needed consistency-under center.

The Raiders also hold the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and speculation is swirling around how the team will use it.

While some analysts believe they could target a running back like Ashton Jeanty to complement Carroll's old-school offensive approach, others suggest Las Vegas may look to bolster a defense that lost several key contributors this offseason, including safety Tre'Von Moehrig, linebacker Robert Spillane and cornerback Nate Hobbs.
