Shedeur Sanders continues to grab headlines, even when the story isn't tied to the Cleveland Browns, the team that shockingly selected him in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft-a bitter surprise for a player once projected as a first-round quarterback.
The son of Deion Sanders was overlooked by all 32 NFL teams multiple times, including some with a desperate need for a quarterback. Among those who ed on him were Tom Brady's Las Vegas Raiders, a team linked to Sanders during the draft process, sparking outrage from one of their most famous fans.
Ice Cube furious over Raiders' decision to skip Shedeur Sanders
On several occasions, it seemed the Raiders might bet on Shedeur, despite g Geno Smith in the offseason. He appeared to be an ideal long-term fit for the franchise. Instead, they opted for Cam Miller, a quarterback from North Dakota State.
This decision didn't sit well with Ice Cube, the iconic rapper and lifelong Raiders fan, who was vocal about his disappointment in a move heavily influenced by Tom Brady, a minority owner of the team.
"It did bother me, I wanted him. But I understand, you know, I could see from a coach's point of view why not to take him," Ice Cube said on Skip Bayless' show. "You take him, you don't have a good season or two, Deion (Sanders) is getting your job. He's definitely not a fifth-round pick."
Ice Cube also referenced a circulating NFL theory suggesting that if a coach fails with Shedeur, the organization might look to replace them with his father, Deion Sanders.
Coach Prime was rumored to be a candidate for the Dallas Cowboys' head coaching job this offseason, but now the Browns could consider him if he delivers another strong season with Colorado.
What's certain is that Ice Cube remains upset, left wondering if Shedeur Sanders could have thrived with his beloved Las Vegas Raiders.
