Sometimes it has been shaky, specially at the beginning of the journey, but there is no doubt that Tua Tagovailoa is the Miami Dolphins starting quarterback, the question is if he can be so for a long time.

The team picked up his option for a fifth year, an option that it was stablished in his rookie contract, therefore a more lucrative deal should be around the corner for him, but there is one small problem. The Dolphins havent reached an agreement on a contract extension and there is a belief that Tua could play the 2024-2025 season with no security of him staying ed that time.

There is a theory that the star quarterback could play the following season under the franchise tag and negotiate an extension during that year, but that is not something that the signal caller wants.

Both Tagovailoa and coach Mike McDaniel have said that the quarterback will be at OTAs, which begin on Monday but if he doesnt show up, tension could build up, taking in hand the fact that both parties, Tua's agent and the team's front office have talked extension but haven't agreed to .

The longer it takes, the higher the price

Tua Tagovailoa is making $23.1 million this year under the fifth-year option, something that is below that standard considering he led the league in ing last year. With that said, the longer it takes for both parties to reach an agreement, the higher the eventual price.

This situation is similar to what happened with Dak Prescott with the Dallas Cowboys, but Jared Goff got a very good deal also based on his performance.

Goff received $148 million guaranteed at g, as a practical matter, along with a $73 million g, the Dolphins will have to compensate Tua while thinking of securing other key players in the near future, unless they are ok with turning themselves into a salary cap problem like the Buffalo Bills had a few months back.
