The Miami Dolphins haven't had the season they were hoping for, with the team currently sitting at the bottom of the AFC East with a 1-3 record, but they did get some good news on Tuesday.
Odell Beckham Jr., who signed with the team back in May, will practice with the team this week for the first time according to head coach Mike McDaniel.
He started the season on the physically unable to perform list with an undisclosed injury, and he will now have to be added to the Dolphins' active roster within 21 days or be reverted to the inactive list for the remainder of the season.
Beckham signed a one-year, $3 million contract with incentives that could reach as much as $8.25 million. However since then he hasn't practiced, though he is now eligible to return as soon as Miami's game against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
Dolphins have struggled this season
Beckham Jr's return would certainly help the Dolphins, who have struggled mightily on offense. The team currently has the 26th ranked offense and has the worst-scoring offense at just 11.3 points per game.
Their struggles are largely down to the quarterback situation. Tyler Huntley is expected to make his second consecutive start this week, with both Skylar Thompson and Tua Tagovailoa out injured.
Miami fell to a disappointing 31-12 defeat to the Tennessee Titans on Monday night, with Huntley finished 14 of 22 with 96 yards, though he did score the team's only touchdown of the night on a 1-yard run.
Despite Miami's struggles, McDaniel saw reasons for the team to be optimistic moving forward.
"We're planning on going with Tyler, and I think, after reviewing the tape, there's reasons for guys to be excited about that," McDaniel said.
"Because while the output wasn't nearly what we wanted offensively, there was some things to build upon that we will keep working through."
