Aaron Rodgers its in his Netflix sports documentary that he has lost friends and family over his 'controversial' views after the New York Jets quarterback questioned the COVID-19 vaccine and hit out at cancel culture.

The 41-year-old is in a very privileged position where he is wealthy enough that he never has to engage with, or think about, politics if he doesn't want to but that's simply not the path the Super Bowl champion has taken.

He previously accused the 'woke cancel culture' of trying to stop him from expressing himself as well as later itting he misled the public when he described himself as 'immunized' against COVID-19, before later contracting the disease in November 2021.

Whilst the then-Green Bay Packer claimed the reaction to his lack of clarity about his vaccination status was an "attempted takedown" of his integrity and word, he revealed that some of his family and friends have distanced themselves from him.

"Losing friendships, family. It was heartbreaking," Rodgers says in a tailer for Aaron Rodgers: Enigma, also adding that he battled between his naturally introverted personality behind closed doors, and his extroverted persona for fans.

He has lost connection to his parents and his two brothers for around a decade, although this is thought to be related to non-Christian values, such as sex before marriage, rather than his policy towards viruses and 'cancel culture'.

Rodgers' ex says she was depressed dating him

Between Rodgers' confession about his personal life and his ex-fiancee's comments about their relationship, it's not been a great week as far as his public persona goes.

Shailene Woodley and the quarterback got engaged in 2021, just days after going public together, but they never made it to the wedding ceremony as they broke up in 2022.

The 33-year-old previously hinted that emotional unavailability was the source of the split, but now she's seemed to go one step further by hinting that the damage from their relationship still hurts her to this day and even left her depressed.

"I haven't shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry," Woodley told outside magazine. "It was not right. But it was beautiful.

"I had a really awful, traumatic thing happen in early 2022. I felt like I lost my soul, myself, my happiness, my joy.

"Empathy kind of kept me in this loop of feeling everything for everyone. I knew I was depressed when I looked at a tree and felt nothing."
