Shaquille O'Neal recently offered some heartfelt advice to Jason Kelce, the long-time Eagles center who is considering retirement from the NFL.

O'Neal, who enjoyed a legendary NBA career with the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, has warned Kelce of the perils of the free time that comes with retirement.

Kelce hasn't yet made a decision on whether or not to retire, with many suspecting that the 2023 season will have been his last in the league.

"My advice to you if you are going to retire: Accept it, enjoy your family, brother," Shaq recently told Kelce on "The Big Podcast with Shaq."

"I made a lot of dumb mistakes that led to me losing my family and being alone. That's not the case for you, so enjoy your beautiful wife, enjoy your beautiful kids, and never dwell on what we had.

"What we had is what we got. You got the ring, people know who you are. Enjoy, because again, I was an idiot, and I've talked about it a long time. I lost my whole family. I'm in a 100,000-square-foot house by myself."

What did Shaquille O'Neal do to end up alone?

The Basketball Hall of Famer has itted to not being the "best partner" to his ex-wife, Shaunie, with whom he has four children, sons Shareef and Shaqir, and daughters Amirah and Me'arah.

O'Neal initially filed for divorce from Shaunie Nelson in 2007, but the divorce was called off less than a year later.

Shaunie then filed for separation in 2009, and their divorce was rubber stamped in 2011, bringing their marriage to an official end.

Shaq also has a daughter, Taahirah, with ex-girlfriend Arnetta Yardbourgh, whom he dated before marrying Nelson, yet he regrets how he behaved when with both women.

"I had two perfect women and I messed it up," Shaq said on Monica's "MoTalk Radio" in June.

"My first one was my baby mother, Arnetta, and then I met Shaunie. Shaunie was also a perfect woman and I messed it up.

"Yeah, you know, we were young and always just doing dumb stuff. But, the good thing about our relationship is that they forgave me and we have a good relationship now. But when you ask me about the perfect woman, I had two perfect women and I messed it up, just by, you know, being dumb."
