Lamont Roach Jr. stuck his nose where it didn't belong and is paying the consequences of his audacity. The WBA super featherweight world champion mocked the Philadelphia Eagles' loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday, and NFL fans were quick to warn him that he could be about to suffer the same fate.

Roach Jr. has been waiting for his chance at stardom for a long time. Although he is a WBA champion, he is still one step below the boxing big leagues. To solve this, Roach Jr. asked the WBA for permission to move up to lightweight and face champion Gervonta Davis.

After a delay, the fight was rescheduled for March 1, 2025. However, Roach Jr. will arrive at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, as the clear underdog, with odds of +850 to Davis' -2000, and Eagles fans were quick to remind him of that.

Roach Jr. vs. the Philadelphia crowd

A native of Washington, DC, Roach Jr. is clearly a Commanders fan. He showed this on Sunday after Washington's 36-33 win over Philadelphia, posting a message on X (formerly Twitter) saying, "3 words for an Eagles fan rn" accompanied by four crying laughing emojis.

However, the WBA champion messed with the wrong crowd. "March you will be part of history," one fan warned him by showing pictures of Davis' most recent knockouts, while another said, "Just a picture," showing an image of Davis celebrating with a backflip after a victory.

Another fan was even more blunt, saying, "Tank is knocking you out," but not everyone was as direct. Others chose to point out that the Eagles lead the NFC East with a 12-3 record, though with Sunday's win, the Commanders (10-5) could still wrest the division title from them.

History is also against Roach Jr.

Oddsmakers aside, history also favors Davis. Roach Jr. barely defeated Hector Luis Garcia by split decision, an opponent Tank beat by knockout in the ninth round. Going further back, the two fighters met in their amateur days, with Davis winning.

Roach Jr. should be careful before kicking the proverbial eagle's nest or he risks feeling the claws.
