Aaron Rodgers Dealing with Personal Issues Ahead of Playing with Steelers
The relationship between Rodgers and the Steelers has been the subject of intense speculation during the offseason. Ian O'Connor, Rodgers' personal biographer, stated last month that the quarterback had privately communicated to the Steelers his intention to play for them, but was dealing with personal issues that prevented him from fully committing to mandatory minicamp activities.
"I think verbally, behind the scenes, he didn't guarantee it, but he told them [the Steelers], 'Listen, I'm going to play for you,'" O'Connor said during an interview with 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly begin looking for options to replace Aaron Rodgers
While the Steelers continue to pursue Rodgers, they have begun formulating contingency plans in case the four-time MVP ultimately decides not to the team. ESPN NFL insider Dan Graziano recently indicated that late July, when training camp begins in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, represents a possible deadline for the Steelers to consider other options.
"If Rodgers isn't available by the time training camp begins in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, at the end of July, I think that's when the Steelers will start looking at other options," Graziano explained. "Right now, we're just waiting on Aaron Rodgers."
