Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams narrowly avoided punishment from the NFL earlier this month when he threw a bit of a tantrum while being evaluated for a concussion. This time, he wasn't so lucky.
Confirmation came Friday that the NFL has fined Adams for a second showdown with an independent concussion expert who was examining one of Adams' teammates during last Sunday's loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. The reported physical nature of the confrontation meant the NFL would not be so lenient with the former All-Pro safety this time around.
How much has Adams been fined?
The NFL fined Adams $50,000 for both verbal remarks and physical with an independent doctor in Seattle last Sunday, when the Seahawks lost 17-13 to the resurgent Bengals.
Adams was playing in only his second game of the 2023 season. He made his return from a torn quadricepts tendon on Oct. 2, but he took only nine defensive snaps before exiting with a concussion. He used Seattle's bye week to recover, and he made four tackles -- as well as a tackle for loss -- against Cincinnati.

Adams feeling held back
After missing virtually the entire 2022 season through injury, it makes sense that Adams would be at least somewhat resistant to coming off the field following so much time away. However, someone in the Seattle organization might have to speak with Adams about channeling his ion and intensity in a different way.
Adams, of course, went viral after he yelled at another independent doctor back on Oct. 2. As he was being escorted off the field early in an eventual win over the New York Giants, a visibly-enraged Adams was seen shouting during an evaluation -- undertaken after he collided with the knee of Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.
Adams did apologize for the incident, but some will wonder if he learned anything from it.
