Ron Torbert is the main referee among a dozen officials chosen for Super Bowl LIX. He was hired in 2010 by the NFL and has more than a decade as a principal
His appointment for Super Bowl 2025 has provoked mixed opinions among fans. Many claim that Torbert and his team have benefited the Chiefs. The criticism has reached such a point that Ron and his team have been dubbed "Patrick's team" or "Mahomes' friends," in reference to the Chiefs quarterback.
To add controversy to the appointment, the NFL's specialist officiating portal, Football Zebras, claims that the league has omitted some traditionally used criteria for selecting officials, such as that non-principal of the team must have a Conference Championship game on their resume or be at least five-year veterans.

How much will they earn in the Super Bowl?
The last agreement between the NFL and the Referees Association is no longer in force, but it offers a reference to establish the values that referees typically earn in regular season, playoff and finals games.
Salaries depend on experience, so a referee can earn between 190,000 and 240,000 euros per year. On average, about 11,500 euros per game. The difference in the Super Bowl is in the additional benefits: there will be bonuses ranging from 28,000 to 48,000 euros.
NFL referees are associated and syndicated. They constantly negotiate better conditions with the league. The truth is that New Orleans will host the NFL's grand final for the 11th time. The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking for a third consecutive title, something unprecedented to date, in a duel against the Philadelphia Eagles on February 9.
