One of the most anticipated events in the world of hockey is upon us-the annual Hockey Hall of Fame induction.

On this revered night, the hockey community will witness the deserving induction of the latest class, a group that leans particularly heavy on talented goalkeepers.

The latest inductees into the Hockey Hall of Fame, to be officially honored during the ceremony in Toronto, spotlight the remarkable talents of Henrik Lundqvist, Tom Barrasso, and Mike Vernon, making it one of the most goalie-centric classes in history.

Center Pierre Turgeon s these skilled netminders, along with Caroline Ouellette, a legendary figure in Canadian women's hockey, former NHL executive Pierre Lacroix, and the veteran head coach Ken Hitchcock.

The class of 2023 was determined by an 18-member selectioncommittee chaired by Mike Gartner.

Maple Leafs hold Hall of Fame NHL record

Remarkably, the Toronto Maple Leafs, which were previously known as the Toronto St. Patricks and Toronto Arenas, boast the highest number of player inductees with 60.

It's not without its controversies, though.

A notably deserving candidate who missed out on this year's list is former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Alexander Mogilny.

Despite an impressive 1,032 points across 990 NHL games, Mogilny was snubbed for the Hall of Fame induction for the 14th consecutive year.

On the contrary, Pierre Turgeon, a well-regarded player with 1,327 points in 1,294 NHL games, was the only skater inducted this year.

Mogilny, who had a remarkable career spanning multiple teams including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, and New Jersey Devils, holds an enviable resume.

With 473 goals and numerous accolades, including a Stanley Cup, Olympic Gold, World Championship, and a Lady Byng trophy, his exclusion remains baffling.

Similarly overlooked was Curtis Joseph, ranked 7th in all-time wins with 454 victories and a career save percentage of .906. Joseph, another former Maple Leafs goaltender, is on the Hall of Fame ballot since 2012.

It was a surprising miss, especially given that two goalies with lesser statistics made the cut in a year where three goalkeepers were inducted.
