On Saturday, the US Equestrian Team released its roster for this summer's Olympic Games in Paris, and will feature riders Kent Farrington, Laura Kraut and McLain Ward, along with Karl Cook as a reserve.
The big surprise in the squad was the absence of Jessica Springsteen after winning the Silver Medal at the Tokyo Games. It was a surprise for everyone, not least her father, Bruce Springsteen, who had left several dates free of concerts to coincide with the equestrian competition in the French capital.
But that's not all: we are even more surprised when we that on April 10, Jessica was named one of the 10 best athletes in the USA.
The explanation to the 'Springsteen topic'
Everything seems to indicate that her "non-call-up" corresponds to an alarming drop in form of the rider who has fallen in the International Equestrian Ranking from 14th place (Tokyo Games 2021) to the current 127th place. Jessica knows that her dream of returning to the Olympic Games has gone and she can only what she experienced in Tokyo, just after the pandemic: "It was an incredible experience, but because of all the restrictions we had at that time we could not have family or friends there. This year was going to be different. I always thought about sharing that with my family, who have been so ive of my career for so many years, but it's not to be."
