Coco Gauff has revealed that she is the only member of the USA women's tennis team still residing in the Olympic Village in Paris after a challenging living situation prompted the rest of her teammates to move to a hotel. Fresh off leading Team USA as a flagbearer at the opening ceremony, the 20-year-old tennis star shared a brief TikTok video highlighting the conditions in the Village.

In the video, Gauff gave a quick tour of their accommodations, pointing out that ten female athletes were sharing just two bathrooms.

The video showed scenes of her teammates preparing for their events, doing their hair and makeup, in a bustling, crowded suite. Gauff humorously noted in the caption, "10 girls, two bathrooms. #olympicvillage."

The Olympic Village, designed to host 14,250 athletes, has faced criticism from some athletes. The tight quarters and limited facilities led many of Gauff's teammates to opt for hotel accommodations.

In response to a suggestion on social media that the athletes should move to a hotel, Gauff confirmed that all of the other tennis players had already done so, leaving just her and a few others in the Village.

Gauff also commented on the basic quality of the living conditions, including the "anti-sex" cardboard beds that have been widely discussed.

To improve her comfort, she borrowed a mattress topper from the US Archery team. Despite these issues, Gauff emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their shared space for everyone's well-being.

Youngest US flagbearer ever

The video, which has been viewed over 535,000 times, was posted shortly after Gauff shared the honor of carrying the American flag with basketball star LeBron James at the opening ceremony.

Her role as flagbearer made her the youngest and the first tennis player to hold this prestigious position for Team USA. Notably, Team USA basketball, including James, also chose to stay outside the Olympic Village.
