- Olympic Games. Suni Lee responds to Simone Biles-MyKayla Skinner feud: Just ended you
USA gymnast Suni Lee has had a wonderful Paris 2024 Olympic Games so far and has made a lot of new fans along the way, and she has done it all whilst battling an illness.
Lee had two kidney diseases last year and has battled back from them to compete at the Olympics, putting her at a physical disadvantage to those around her.
She won bronze in the women's gymnastics all-round final on Thursday and she was beaming with pride, and for good reason too.
Lindsey Vonn impressed by Suni Lee
She shared a very emotional and honest Instagram post on Friday and there was one comment that really caught the eye, from Olympic gold-medal skier Lindsey Vonn.
"So glad you believed in yourself!!!" Vonn commented. "You got knocked down and you built yourself back up! You deserve this and so much more!! Made Minnesota and the world so proud!!"
Lee managed to win gold in the all-round final at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics but she soon reached a point where it appeared that that may be her final event, as her physical condition got worse and worse.
Her Instagram post read: "From being told that i would never be able to do gymnastics again to winning my 5th olympic medal!!
"This medal goes deeper than gymnastics. i can't even begin to express how much my health has taken away from me & the strength it has taught me, so to be here is the greatest achievement of all. grateful for the opportunity to be able to represent team USA at my second olympic games! thank you for all the ."
