Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced that the company will donate funds to relief efforts in Valencia, following the devastating floods that have affected the region.
The heavy rains have caused what could be one of the worst floods in Spain's modern history, with rainfall equivalent to a year's worth of rain in just eight hours. The magnitude of the disaster has resulted in the destruction of infrastructure such as bridges and buildings, as well as claiming the lives of at least 155 people in the area.
Apple has demonstrated on several occasions its commitment to natural disaster relief initiatives and, with this contribution, s international relief efforts in Valencia. Tim Cook confirmed the financial and expressed Apple's solidarity with the victims and their families. Although the amount of the donation has not been specified, Cook said that these resources will be used to finance the work of local organizations in the region, who carry out search, rescue and reconstruction tasks.
"We're thinking of everyone affected by the devastating flash floods in the Valencia region of Spain. Apple will be making a donation to help with relief efforts on the ground," he wrote in a tweet.
Apple used to making such donations
This contribution from Apple s other recent efforts by the company to areas affected by natural disasters. In September, the company announced donations to those affected by Hurricane Helene, and last month pledged a sum for relief in areas affected by Hurricane Milton.
Apple's aims to contribute to Valencia's recovery, as it now faces the challenge of rebuilding its communities and restoring affected infrastructure. Apple's donation represents a significant aid in the reconstruction, showing how technology and social commitment can come together in times of need.
