Elon Musk has a very strong obsession with space and with Mars. His goal is to "colonize it". This is how the Argentine businessman Martin Varsavsky, who maintains a friendship with Musk, has told Iker Jimenez during the Cuarto Milenio program.

"His obsession is to travel to Mars and colonize it," Varsavsky said. "I told him that the idea of going to Mars is especially expensive. I tell him that, for the cost of taking one person, you can take ten thousand embryos in a tank," he said

In fact, the Argentine added how this process could be done faster: "You would have to take an artificial uterus to grow them afterwards. You could colonize Mars much faster because people would grow up there".

He explained: "A lot of people would die and the few who survive might end up sterile or with radiation problems," since a nuclear war is an increasingly feasible threat, hence this "reservoir of embryos" would be necessary for the "future of humanity".

Musk's challenges

Musk has always been clear about this. He sets goals in life and one of them is to reach Mars. "Can you imagine how wonderful it will be for American astronauts to plant the flag on another planet for the first time?" he said in one of his speeches. "SpaceX will exponentially increase the number of ships traveling to Mars at each window of opportunity," he added.
