- Gaming. Neither GTA, nor Skyrim, nor Zelda Breath of the Wild, this is the best open world game I've ever played
One of the big problems with the PS5's DualSense is that its battery sometimes doesn't last too long. In other words, the PlayStation 5 controller is not known for its battery life. However, it is possible to alleviate this problem if we optimize a series of settings.
How to extend the battery life of the PlayStation 5 DualSense
This is why today, in MARCA Gaming, we bring you a series of tips through which you can extend the battery life of your DualSense. In most cases we will do everything in the same configuration menu. However, keep in mind that to carry out this process you may have to give up certain functions, so first of all you must determine whether it is worth it or not.
For example, haptic and vibration are features that many gamers like, but they can quickly drain your controller's battery. Turning them off will allow the battery to last a little longer. With that said, here's how to change these settings along with other options.
Adjust the brightness of your DualSense
The light bar on the DualSense constantly consumes power, so adjusting the brightness level will help you save battery life. Here's how to change it:
- Turn on your PS5 and go to Settings.
- Go to Accessories and then Controller (general).
- Select the Controller Indicators Brightness option
- Change the setting to Dim.
Adjust haptic
If we sacrifice this function of the controller, we can gain durability in the battery of the controller, but only if the games we usually play use it. How to change it:
- In Settings, go to Accessories and then to Controller (general).
- Look for Trigger effect intensity.
- Reduce its intensity to Low. If you prefer to save as much as possible, turn it Off.
Reduce PS5 controller vibration
Vibration works in almost every game. It doesn't consume excessively, but it does consume a little. If we combine this change with the previous ones, we will gain battery life. How to change it:
- Once again, go to Settings, Accessories and Controller (general)
- Look for the Vibration Intensity option
- Reduce the level: Low to reduce consumption, Off to save the most
Turn down the volume on the controller
The DualSense has a small speaker that enhances the gaming experience with additional sound effects. However, its constant use impacts battery life. How to change it:
- Follow the usual route: Settings, Accessories and Controller (general)
- Scroll through the menu until you find the Related Settings section and go to Controller Speaker
- Reduce the maximum volume and adjust the volume to save battery
Set up auto shutdown
If you stop playing for a while and the controller is still on, it will be wasting unnecessary energy. Setting it to turn off automatically helps to avoid this. Here's how to change it:
- Go to Settings, then System and finally Power Saving.
- In Set when controllers turn off, select "After 10 minutes" so that they turn off automatically when you have not used them for a while.
Charge the controller correctly
To keep the battery in good condition and optimize its life, I recommend:
- Use original or certified cables to charge the controller.
- Don't leave the controller connected all night unnecessarily.
- Avoid using low-quality chargers, as they can damage the battery over time.
- Consider using an official charging base that stops charging once the battery is full if you're going to leave it overnight.
Keep it in good condition
Over time, the DualSense's battery can lose capacity if not properly maintained. It's not a definitive panacea, but it helps.
- Avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures.
- Do not leave the controller discharged for long periods of time.
- Use full charge cycles (wait for the battery to drop to a low level before recharging).
